I need an advice from the experts
« on: Jul 11, 2012, 11:46 PM »
Good Day! I would like to ask for your advice regarding my situation right now:

There was this foreign multinational company who's looking for local company here in the Philippines for investment, they will inject funds, trainings, and other things that is needed for the improvement of the local company. They were able to expand their business across Asian countries and now they are going to choose from the companies I introduced to them.

It's been a month when the director of the company asked me if I can help them looking for local companies here in the Philippines, I was able to introduce more than 5 reputable companies being in the business for more than 20 years. From their last visit here, they will now proceed with the next step which is choosing the right company for possible business partnership and investment. I think I was able to meet the expectations of the investors, and honestly speaking I am new into this business. My problem right now is putting the right amount for my Professional Fee.

I had a conversation with my friend who's an entrepreneur here in the Philippines, he told me that I can ask for a percent from the sales/ investment/ turnover of the company or just ask for a commission, but I don't know the right amount.

I will be very grateful for any suggestions from the experts into this business.

Im not expert TS nor a talented like you but I think you should value your professional fee based on how much you value yourself... They should pay you based on your knowledge of which companies should they invest information is expensive today... Much better if you ask a little share based on how much they will gain per annum... I think that is the best thing you could get from them...=)

Is this your first time?

Cuz if you've been doing this as a business for quite some time, then you'd have discussed your professional fee BEFORE referring anyone.

Now, you have no agreement if you should be paid at all, and they can just walk away.

@richpulubi, This is the first time I entered into this kind of business, they mentioned before that they will give me a commission or incentives from the company if the investment is successful. And I think it is very hard for them to just walk away, we have business here in the Philippines that are linked with their business abroad.

@george88, thank you for your suggestion, actually the least company that I talked to was earning about 8 digits, and I am thinking of asking for a percent from the turn over rate of the company that they will invest. But it will be great if I can talk to someone who's doing this business for a long time.

"If I asked for like 3% from the turn over or total amount of the investment that the Foreign company will invest here in the Philippines, is it fair enough?"

I'm no expert either TS but this is just my view, Una, depende ito sa scope of work na ginawa mo na, ginagawa at gagawin pa lang. Is there an existing contract between you and the investor na nagsabing you look for companies for a possible investment opportunities? Sa contract kasi dapat nakastipulate ang lahat tasks mo at duration maaring hanggang sa maitayo nila ang business o at least man lang kung meron ng signing of contract between sa kausap mo at dun sa company na tinarget dito saying na done deal na. Kasi pwedeng along the process ng pakikipag-usap ng investor sa companies eh kasama ka pa din to close the deal. So ibang bagay pa yun kaya depende sa scope of work mo yun. Consultant as in nagrefer ka lang ng company and u informed the company that there is this investor who would like to invest in the local company? Baka kasi may iba ka pang tasks na kasama. Importante ang duration hanggat di nakoclose ang deal. So una sa contract nagleg-work ka. (you must be paid for that) and ikalawa naclose ang deal for example...(you must be compensated din sa ganun di ba?...sa percentage depende ata yun...i just had a feeling na medyo high profile mo na para tumawad man sila hindi pa rin maliit ang makukuha mo hehehe. Deepende sa total amount ng investemnt syempre
