Did you know that...

...only 4.6% of income-earning Filipinos spend less than what they earned?

...PhP200 is the average emergency savings of a common Juan dela Cruz?

...only less than 1% of households in Metro Manila own investments other than their lousy bank accounts?

Check out the Revelations in this Infographic: http://www.argeltiburcio.com/2012/05/shocking-truth-about-how-filipinos-save.html

Good question, I pray that those who will read this strive to be part of the 4.6% who spent less than what they earned and invested the surplus in better-than-inflation investment vehicles :)

MMK ...hahahaha

http://www.thelongestwayhome.com/blog/philippines-journal/how-much-does-a-person-from-the-philippines-earn/

i also use  "tulak kariton" nung 11 yrs old ako...tumatakas ako sa haws,,, and nangongolekta ng bote dyaryo...and im proud of it...

i think ung family relationship for filipinos are so strong, khit hirap na mas gusto nila sama sama....khit ako,, nacocompare ko padin ung time na sama sama kame kumakaen ng tuyo , masya un moment,,, but now asensado mga kapatid ko...abroad na kame lahat kanya kanyang bansa,, pero malungkot,, sobrang mis ko ung hatian sa tuyo..

siguro ung comfort sa family,,, isang factor un why filipinos still poor.. I'm just lucky napaglabanan namen ung ganitong values..

I'm not surprise with the stats at all. Just make an observation within your work, circle of friends & within your neighborhood. Only a few has actual savings let alone investments. Marami ang may utang sa creditcard, sa kumpanya, bale sa sweldo at utang sa bumbay.

Financial seminars are not targeting the masses especially those marketing certain financial products. Class A & B target Nila kasi alam Nila andyan ang pera.

Hindi dadami mga sanglaan at loan sharks if most people aren't spending more than they can earn.

Ang dapat iredicate sa mindset ng mga pinoys ay yung bahala na or bahala na ang Diyos na system. Saka yung defense mechanism that shut off any new idea or concept you are trying to make them aware of.

The masses doesn't like to think much let alone plan for their future. May sabay silang bigyan ng trabaho, iutos step by step ang dapat gawin at bayaran sila sa ginawang trabaho. Hirap na hirap silang makawala sa kulturang kinalakihan Nila at nakagawian na. Somethng radical should happen to wake them up from their ignorance & free them from it's deadly trap.

I think all people is just designed in different ways, beliefs and behaviuors kasi kung susumahin kung ang lahat ng tao pare-pareho ang pag-iisip, sa sitwasyong ito, kung ang iba gustong mag invest sa busineses paano lalago ang isang business kung wala ang mga taong hangdang gumasta na katulad nila? aminin man natin o hindi ay may mga taong kumukita o nakikinabang sa kamangmangan nila pagdating sa pinansyal. I think it's all about a matter of choice kung ano talaga ang gusto mo. Kung gusto mong yumaman then learn how money works for you and kung gusto mong middle class lang then learn how to work for money and buy things that can satisfy your emotion. If you want to be poor and yet hapy then maintain your good relationship to your family and find your own source of income even if kakarampot lang.

Sadly, most of the pinoys are financial illiterate. Educational Institutions taught their students on how to become an employee not to become an investor. This is the reality... and we can't deny this fact.

1. for OFW's, farm/agriculture is not the best investment, but it is much better than nothing.
2. for OFW's to spend most of their income for a big house in the phils is not good, yet this is still much better than those OFWs (and their family) who spent all their income in luxury and vices, and his/her family still renting a house in the phils.
3. to claim that ikaw lang talaga OFW sa UAE ang nag-iinvest ng stocks, hindi naman siguro, may mga iilan pa rin tayo dito sa UAE.
