@eischied_21, try to do it again via internet then answer lagi ung last portion para lumabas ang aggressive profile... you could take the exam 2x a day then you could change everyday!  hehehehe, yun ang ginawa ko hanggang maging aggressive profile ko (trial and error kasi newbie pa dati)... hehehehe... then, saka ka mag-subscribe ng ALFM...

@neat_chic, ok naman... BDO and BPI kasi mga accounts ko... BDO as of today gives me 6% return, for regular and 7% for EIP... but ALFM ang malaki, 9%... =)

thanks to TS and neat_chic i got motivated to open an ALFM Growth Fund account na haha. sabi ko kasi dati  pag-uwi ko na lang ng pinas sa December ;)

i have a friend din who's a BPI bank personnel so sa kanya ko pinadala yung account opening forms ko and signed copy of my passport. yesterday she received it then she texted me na hindi daw pwede BPI Direct account ang settlement account according to her boss. buti na lang i have read na here din sa PMT na pwede yun so i replied to her na to tell her boss to contact asset management to confirm. after a while, she texted me again and said that it will be processed na. this morning, i received a message from her informing me of my trust account number. i enrolled it immediately to my expressonline account and waiting na lang ako now for its activation :)

Hi,

Newbie here sa Mutual fund. Two months pa lng ako ngiinvest sa UITF and MF and all related stories about investment ay nakakainspire lalo na sa mga baguhang tulad ko. I used to invest in UITFs sa BPI using their Bpiexpressonline, super convenient nong facility na un kc pde kng makabili ng units anytime at anywhere. As neophyte, i tried BPI Short Term Fund and initially invested 10k and ini-enroll ko cya sa RSP nla with 1,667/mo to take advantage rw ng cost averaging. As of to date tumubo n ang 11.6K ko ng 33 pesos. Better na rin cya compare sa time deposit na bka kumita lng un ng outmost 15 pesos for 35 days holding period. Nanghihinayang lang ako sa BPI equity fund, kung sana don ako nkpginvest ng 10k ko, sana tumubo n ako ng 191 pesos as of now. By the way, ngopen dn ako ng mutual fund account sa BPI and interested ako sa AFLM Growth fund base s mga nabasa ko sa mga forum dito at base na rin sa personal research and computation ko kung nakapaginvest pla ako starting January 2012 then ng add-on ako ng 1k kda buwan kumita n ako ng almost 2k as of July 07, 2012. Not bad.

What I really like about ALFM Growth Fund and other BPI MF is they don't have front end fees unlike other MF. This is great for those investing monthly through ESP. You save on costly transaction fees unlike other MF. :)

@bilagan,
Sir are you doing cost averaging because that's all you
can afford per month?

Because cost averaging is really for those funds with
very volatile price movements.

You're doing your self a disservice by doing cost
averaging in a fund like short term fund which only
goes up and up and has rarely ever went down.

@nanashi, yeah only BPI has a true load free mutual fund =D

Plan ko kc cya gamitin for my retirement fund at inenrol ko cya ng RSP for ten years? Ung plan ko na ALFM fund balak ko rin un ienroll sa RSP Plan at mgopen p ako ng BPI Equity fund at eh RSP ko rin.. Can you give me advise how can I maximize my resources thru investing though sa ngaun ngiipon p lng ako ng Emergency Fund ko? Thanks and appreciate your advise..

I think you have a mismatch between your financial goal (retirement, long term) and the investment vehicle (BPI Short Term Fund, short term ).

I have short term vehicle (MF Bond fund) for my emergency funds. Similar siguro siya sa Short Term Fund ni BPI.Its a relatively low return but it matches its purpose. No much volatility. Consistent but slow growth na parang naka time deposit lang.

If you are talking about retirement, kelangan either balance or equity fund ang pantapat mo. Like what @mxherr5 says, you can use cost averaging, since that’s the amount you can save and same time you have the opportunity to catch low-high investing returns due to volatility.

allanmm13 & mxherr5  - Advisable ba na pang Emergency fund ang mutual fund, let's say FAMI Fixed Income?

Me, personally i chose BPI Premium Bond Fund over BPI Short Term Fund because it has higher return, see the prospectus on their website.

BPI STF - around 1%-2%
BPI PBF - 3%-4%

And you can buy or sell also online. If you need the money (for your emergency) you can redeem the amount of units you want and receive the money after a day (2 days max if you missed the cut off).

No need for the traditional filling up forms, sending fax and sending the original forms for additional (and selling)

i split my emergency funds into two, normal bank deposit and FAMI Fixed Income.

Take note, however, na kung ilalagay sa Fixed Income, its subject to early termination fees kapag withdraw mo within 6 mos. Yung sa akin kasi, i built it more than a year ago pa, so wala na ako exit fees to pay kung mag karoon man ng emergency use. 7 days is needed to get your funds sa FAMI after filling the redemption form and surrender the CORs.

Fixed Income ni FAMI is distributed to SDAs, TDs, Corporate note, RP bonds/bills.. so there's an added risk per debt instruments within the fund itself, that you must take into consideration when you want to park your money there.

@mamee, I have my emergency fund in BPI's Short Term Fund myself, the returns are SDA like primarily because the fee is 0.5% just like an SDA, and almost all of the assets are in SDA. There's a small amount in bonds for some "uumph" hehe

Short Term fund is very liquid, one banking day lang ang turn around time for redemptions. No sales fees whatsoever to boot pa.

Best of all, hassle free ang pag subscribe at redeem. Online lang.=D
