I discussed this before with a friend of mine who played it online. Though we had quite a long discussion, the end result was that he eventually saw the advantage of playing with live people instead of the AI.

So play the online or PC game just to familiarize yourself with the game, but play with live people to maximize your learning. There are things you can never learn from a computer game, like people dynamics.
