  • That's a tough question. There's no one way of picking your stocks. The methods are virtually limitless since there are so many things you can do differently compared to your peers.

A lot of people here use:

-fundamental analysis: here people analyze both quantitative and qualitative information coupled with economic and other financial factors. when people study the financial statements of the companies, that falls under FA. when they use financial ratios to evaluate the companies, that's FA.

-technical analysis: this, on the other hand relates to people who use charts and statistics of past data to identify patterns that they can use in their evaluation of stocks.

-a combination of both fundamental and technical

-and of course there's always coattailing. that's when you ride on other people's decisions and analyses. which isn't all that bad if you don't have the time or the energy to exert for your own personal research

madami pang complexities sa bawat method at hindi kumpleto yang nabigay ko. so i'd suggest you try to find out more about each and decide what you'll be comfortable with. there's a lot of material online that you can use to study them.

malaking tulong din if you could identify for us what you want to do with your stocks. for example, if you want to invest for the long-term, i'm sure many of the people here would recommend fundamental analysis.

there's no fixed formula precisely because the situations are almost always different with different companies. like i said, maybe you could read up online about fundamental analysis and technical analysis and see if you favor one over the other.

    good luck sir

  • Thats nice TS.
Well for long term, how long? is it 3yrs, 5yrs, 10yrs?... what companies do you think will benefit long term? infrastructure, food, properties, mining? saan ka ba kumportable? what kind of long term investor are you? value, growth, or combination of both? The safest is, mamili ka lang sa PSE index natin. Screen mo yung mga ratios and evaluate kung may time ka. Kung hindi naman, you need recommendation from trusted and reliable analysts.

For short term marami klase, pwede day trading (buy and sell within a day), swing trading(within 2-5days), or position trading (days/months). Karaniwan dito mga trend followers with less regard to fundamentals. Technical analysis will sometimes help you with this one but not all the time. Dapat dito meron ka strict entry and exit points (cut loss or stop gain). Dapat implement mo yan or else pointless lahat. You must determine these kinds of things. Also you must choose only liquid stocks, or higly tradable/active stocks otherwise baka maipit ka lang. Sige isip pa ako.. :D

:hello:

  • Ako, since newbie lang ako, I choose TA muna, kasi mas objective ang dating eh.

ang best formula is mag aral.
    mahirap isimplify yan, bro.

wag mo madaliin...negosyo to, so treat it as your serious business.

Basta we will try to post charts weekly,...

More of interpreting technical indicators lang po.

Btw, weekly charts are posted here - http://paymanila.com/forum/index.php/board,84.0.html.  Some choiced stocks based on the EIP list from Citiseconline.

when u buy only 1 company's stock & invest long-term, doesnt necessarily mean u will minimize your risk.

    Try to check this...
bro, chineck ko yung links mo (very quick read).
it mentions a few indicators along with some 'indicator rules/usage'.
ingat lang. take it with a grain of salt.

(usually pag new traders, ang focus ay sa indicators, which is not the best path to take... i started with the 'indicator journey' too  :hihi:)

for a thread that's into S/R, & with LOTS of charts/posts to study & LOTS of Q&A, go to Forexfactory.com then look for 'james16 thread'. active poster ako dun.
