You're right it's about the PX-MA deal that will affect LC/LCB stocks since the Lepanto group have a stake in MA. As to what effect (good or bad) the deal will have we'll know once trading resumes. But reading other trading forums, most traders are still positive about LC with its gold mining operation.

Trader Gus Cosio commented in his blog:
"I think the disclosure is being made that PX has finalized the acquisition of MA’s Kalayaan mine; and because LC is the controlling shareholder of MA, the benefits flows back up to LC. In qualitative terms, the deal implies the deal flow going on between the LC and MA group with PX. This will further enliven LC because of its own mineral resources which outweighs everybody else in the mining sector. I maintain my view that LC will eventually return a multiple of its current price."

Some say trading might resume tomorrow, malas daw kasi pag sa friday (the 13th). So may bago na namang dramang aabangan sa PSE  :D (Bakit ba kasi napapadalas ang trading halt sa PSE, ganun din ba sa ibang bansa o onli in the pilipins?)

Only in the Philippines as what i've read..

anyway perhaps MVP wants to close the deal before this (GFI - Gold Fields Limited - Gold Fields to Release Q1c2011 results on 19 May  ) happens. since LC/LCB is involved with gold production. perhaps the reason for the bullish outlooks.

@offside, the three companies requested for a voluntary trading suspension yesterday while preparing to announce the joint venture project between Manila Mining and PX. Honestly, looking back, I don't know why they needed to halt trading. Probably they wanted to generate more interest in the three stocks. It's working, though.

Commodities are currently experiencing a correction, silver has lost most of its gains this year and oil below $100.  Something to think about before investing in miners.

Ive been studying the mining sector for quite a while now and im inspired by the ascent of PX itself from the early P1/sh in the early 2000's up to P19+/sh today. Now they are leading the mining sector and are slowly placing some stakes in LC and MA. Not to mention pa the entry of Gold Fields before that.  Lots of speculations!  :hihi:  pero kung titingnan natin ng mas malalim, may basehan lahat ng galaw and not just mere speculations per se.

With this in mind with full assessment of its risk and reward, im willing to park 50% of my portfolio in these mining stocks (LC/LCB/MA) when all these noise/hype settles down or by cost averaging and buying the dips, and let it park there for 5-7years. And when it does a PX-like ascent, pwedeng pwede na pang retire, may sobra pa.  :applause:

Any impact on LC price?
