Gusto mo na bang umuwi ng pinas?
« on: Mar 12, 2011, 08:51 PM »

halimbawa USD kinikita mo ngayon, pag ginawa mo tong opportunity,

FYI, there are millions of OFW's not because there are better places than home, but because THEY DON'T HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO LEAVE HOME.  Since there are fewer oppurtunities here.

Given a chance, we WOULD stay in the Philippines, to be close to friends and family, and to MAKE OUR COUNTRY STRONG AGAIN.

Other places better than home?  Honestly, there will be no other place that will FEEL like home cuz everywhere else, you're just a second class citizen.  Those whites or natives of whatever other country you go to may be cordial in front of you, but in the back of their minds, they consider you a threat to their livelihood.  Someone who takes away oppurtunity from them or their children.

Just think of how you feel when you see Mainland Chinese or Indians here in the phil, how their being unaccepted make them excel in business...and secretly you'd hope they'd go home to their homeland so there will be more oppurtunity for you or your friends and family.

Pinoys leave because they need to support their families, or they think oppurtunities are better abroad.  They choose to take the pain of separation and the risk of failure in a remote land cuz they have no choice.  But to say that there is a place better than home?  I beg to disagree...

But the topic is 'gusto mo na bang umuwi sa pinas?', meaning OFW's, right?

^^^ perhaps; but even so, my post was about the "there's no place like home" remark
notice also that i did not single out any immigrant group from any particular country

Chill, richpulubi. He was just saying that in response to what the thread starter said about going back to the Philippines if given the chance to earn the same amount of money you are earning abroad.

He's not really _just_ saying that are places better than the Philippines; he's saying that earning power shouldn't be the only thing you consider when deciding to go back home or not. There are plenty of other things to consider - like maybe the health care is cheaper in another country, or the education is free, or the person you want to live the rest of your life with is there. Yes there is no place like home but there are lots of people from all over the world who get up and leave because of reasons they think is valid.

actually not all (100%) OFW's want to go home in the Phils. There really are few people who want to make other nations (i.e Canada, US, Europe) their home.

Some OFW/immigrants define other countries where they are right now as their "home", and they "tourist" only in the Phils.

But i'm quite sure less than 1 out of 10 Filipino wants to go home in the Phils including me...

In my case, mas pipiliin ko parin kung anong meron ako ngayon...And lucky enough na masasabi kong "This is a Choice not an Option"...Sorry to disagree sa naunang post about having no choice.. Dahil ang sabi nga "We may not have an option, but we always have a choice"...

After almost 3 years na paging OFW masasabi kong naging tama ung desisyon ko.. Just my own opinion ... :)

Perhaps I spoke too strongly.  But I do love the Philippines, no matter how imperfect it is, and how difficult life is here.  Probably because I fought for its freedom in my younger years against Marcos.

Kung sa pera lang, I make money here in the Phil. Umalis din ako pero bumalik ako...even if it is harder here.

Of course, there are many advantages to being in a first world country.  But if we all deserted our own country, what will happen to it?

And so, I choose to stay.

:applause:

I agree with those saying that "There's no other place like home" kaya marami parin ang naghahanap ng Pinas kahit gaano katagal nang lumayo.. with my statement in previous post...I mean it as a choice for Now in response to the title of the thread... :)

And I think wrong timing rin mag settle sa ngayon considering ung mga sunod-sunod na nangyayari which caused many OFWs from countries like Libya,Egypt,Bahrain,Japan...na umuwi ng Pinas

Why would anybody wanna do that? I can only think of a few things..
They have problems in PI and want to escape it.
They have problems in PI and the only way to solve it is to work abroad?
Or they cannot compete or achieve their goals in the PI..kaya they just wanna work abroad where they can be competitive.
