  • GS,

I recommend you visit www.monitormyfunds.com.  Then choose 'compare funds'.  Here, you can compare how mf's and uitf's perform against each other.  You can check how they did in one or  three months, 1 and three years, and even from inception.  From here, you can make a desicion based on their longterm performance.

Thanks RP for the site. Astig!

  • is this similar to the other mutual funds? Do they have 'sales load' and is there a holding period or can I exit any time without any fees?

UITF has no sales load unlike Mutual Fund.  Those sales load are actually commission for the agent.

Guys bear in mind that UB is owned by the Aboitizes, and the rapid growth of the aboitiz companies last year is the reason why ubef outperformed the other ef's.  Insider trading anyone?

And so, if you think the aboitiz companies will do well this year, then buy ubef.

"A rose is a rose by any other name." Of course there is a sales load/fee buried somewhere in there. They do have a CIO and his minions to monitor stocks and other securities and they occupy an office space. They do business, therefore, you deal with them- you pay. They don't do it out of the goodness of their heart.  :DIt is just a matter who gets a bigger bite out of your capital.

  • UB is now at 399 per share. It's the lowest it's been in the past 3 months, but we're seeing a downward trend. Do you think it's a good time to go in the market?

  • Hi,

I currently have around P200k in savings and I want to start investing in the money market for a period of 1-1.5 years for now. The Unionbank Large Cap UITF interests me (opening balance of P100k) because of it's performance over the last 2 years especially. I'm hesitant about investing in it because the price of it is so high right now and I'm scared of it dropping.

Any advice on what I should do?

if you will just put a single amount ( no subsequent / additional regular investments)....the chances of losing value of your single investment when the price goes down....and down will be immenent

however...just like any equity linked investment product (UITF / MF / Single Pay VULs)...; the timing of the entry of investement is not that much of a factor of gains.....BUT by the amount of time you put your money stay invested and for how often you make subsequent regular investments to average off your unit cost (peso cost averaging).

in Union Bank....you may fund your UITF from your CASA account as it can be auto debited regularly upon your choice of frequency

  • hi guys,
i am just wondering kung ano ang difference ng: "bid", "offer", "mid/last" (different pricing ito ng NAVpU) and how can this affect your investment.

Please enlighten me guys......Thnx in advance!
