Looking better in 2Q12

Light drives Emperador growth. Emperador’s 1Q12 net income surprised on the upside,
growing 124% to Php1.03 Bil as revenues jumped by 64%. One of the reasons for the significant
increase in profits was the strong performance of Emperador Light, which comprise 50% of
Emperador’s sales volume. Initial indications for the second quarter showed that sales remained
strong with no signs of slowing down. We therefore expect the company to raise its 20-25%
guidance on net income growth for Emperador this year.
Diageo production plant to drive Emperador growth next year. This May, Emperador
bought Diageo’s production plant in Laguna. The production plant has an annual capacity of 2
Mil cases per month or 288 Mil bottles annually. Emperador will use 20% of the plant’s capacity
to supplement its current operations while 80% will be used to make premium drinks which it
will develop in collaboration with Diageo. The new plant is expected to start operations late this
year, in time to avoid a potential shortage of Emperador products in 2013. Note that Emperador’s
existing manufacturing plant is already operating at 90% capacity. The opening of the new plant
will be essential in ensuring continuous growth in Emperador’s sales.
2Q12 to be better than 1Q12 for Travellers. Based on initial numbers, Travellers 2Q12
performance will be better compared to its 1Q12 performance which was disappointing.
Travellers’ 1Q12 net income dropped 13.8% y/y to Php854 Mil. Average daily visitors during the
quarter were also unsatisfactory, dropping 17% q/q to 16,291, breaking its trend of continuous
quarter-on-quarter growth since 1Q10. During 2Q12, average daily visitor increased to 18,000
from 16,294 in 1Q12 and 15,250 in 2Q11. Revenues were also up 10-12% q/q and 60% y/y. The
company sees continuous growth in its daily traffic, saying they expect daily visitors to average
20,000 for the year. Although revenues grew 60% y/y in 2Q12, net income may not grow by the
same magnitude because of the higher commissions paid to junket operators to entice more
VIP players.
Estimates under review. We are in the process of reviewing our net income and fair value
estimates for AGI as we take into account the stronger than performance of Emperador and the
lower than expected income of Travellers in 1Q12. We currently have a BUY rating on AGI and
a FV estimate of Php14.90.

Recommendation: Long-term buy

ONLINE BROKERAGE 2TradeAsia has placed a “long-term buy” tag on shares in Alliance Global Group, Inc., citing the conglomerate’s earnings prospects.

“It targets 20% growth in its net income for 2012 — from P6 billion last year to about P7.2 billion this year,” said analyst Freya B. Natividad.

Unit Global-Estate Resorts, Inc., which had a net income of P220 million in 2011, is also eyeing a 20% growth to P260 million this year.

AGI shares closed at P11.68 apiece last Friday, higher by P0.02 from the previous day’s close.

Ms. Natividad said a good entry point would be at P11.50, which is also the stock’s initial support. The secondary support is at P11.30, she said. She pegged the stock’s initial resistance at P11.80 per share and secondary resistance at P12.

The brokerage firm estimated the stock’s price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio to hit nine to 10 times this year, cheaper than the market’s 14 times and the property sector’s 18 times. — Trishia P. Octaviano

It seems this stock doesn’t want to touch 50% Fibonacci Retracement level instead will try to go back above 38.2% level. It is still too early to say but it is good to note that we have a Harami. RSI still low and is poiting upwards. We still lack volume. Caveat!

AGI on the rebound?

We saw this stock last August 6 bouncing before touching 50% Fibonacci Retracement level and today it seems the reversal is a bit convincing. Today it close with 2.32%. Is this going to break from the Falling Wedge? Volume is picking up. A good volume with a breakout from the wedge will make a good confirmation.
