Cheque and SSS
« on: Apr 16, 2009, 08:27 AM »

  • Hi all,

I heard that if you're a voluntary SSS member, you get your benefits thru a cheque?
And that they sed it thru registered mail?

What if I live in an apartment and we have a common mailbox, isn't that dangerous?
Can someone else encash the cheque?

Also how does one encash a cheque?

    Thanks  :thankyou:

  • yes they send it thru cheque, just got mine from SSS last week thru registered mail after 3 days of filing my application for reimbursement at the head office. re: living in an apartment w/ a common mailbox, i understand that the delivery person will be requiring a signature of receipt before they leave the mail. i wasn't around when the mail came in but my mom signed it for me. for encashing the cheque, you can just go to the issuing bank, in this case it's PNB, and bring valid IDs.

  • @ entrepinaynay

Our landlady will probably be the one who's going to sign the cheque
so I guess my follow up question is, nobody else should be able to encash
my cheque since one needs to bring IDs right?

Is there a way for me to just pick the cheque up from the nearest branch
    para less hassle?  :D

Ah what if you miss out the payment last year kasi wala ka pa budget but still gusto mo kasi ma achieve yung number of payment (which is 36mos) kasi you need to avail the maternity loan, kya gusto nung kapitbahay namin na bayran yung last year. Pwede pa kaya yun?

  • Guys, i have a question...sana may makasagot.

  • ^I think they will reissue the cheque when it expires and not withdrawn by the receiver. Though the second time might have a charge or something.. Only guessing a possible scenario.

  • If it's a claim the check is not allowed for second endorsement.Allowed lang sya sa account ng beneficiary/payee.

  • As a rule... No one can encash the cheque except the payee alone... A regular issued cheque will expire after 6 months unless otherwise the validity is written on the cheque. In case the cheque has been encashed other than the payee, the payee can make a complaint and the teller who allowed the transaction will probably should make an explanation and could face suspension or termination and obliged to pay the encashed amount. There is also a case when a cheque has been deposited to the account of other person but with the permission of the payee by signing at the back of the cheque, this is called "Second Endorse Cheque"; the payee endorse his cheque to other person to negotiate the cheque on his behalf. I hope this can useful on your query.
