Hello po! Question lang if for example mag iinvest ako bukas sa mutual fund ng metrobank particularly dun sa SAVE & LEARN FIXED INCOME FUND (SALFIF) nila pwede lang ba ako agad pumunta sa kahit anong branch ng metrobank? Di ba parang nakakahiya yun kung maliit lang yung pera ko halimbawa 10 thousand lang at wala din akong savings accnt sa bank na yun? Sana may sumagot thanks in advance

FAMI is an affiliate of Metrobank and part of the Metrobank Group. It offers mutual funds like SAVE & LEARN FIXED INCOME FUND (SALFIF). Kindly check the requirements and procedures for initial investment in FAMI's website, http://fami.com.ph/.

If you are in Cebu, I could assist you personally with this. If not, I could just refer you to the nearest FAMI office in your area, if there's any. Just let me know.

Thank you for this very informative thread!  :applause:  :thankyou:

Ive been putting off investing because I havent finished saving 6 months of emergency funds. But I think 3 months is enough since I have a steady job and I got both my parents health insurance. Il try to add up to it while I invest.

Its my first time to invest in MF and there's so much I have yet to learn  :D

I plan to start small and invest 5k in FAMI equity fund this month ( for retirement) . Then Il try other companies.

Will I just email/send the forms to the address on the website? Or is it much better to call them first?

Just complete forms with necessary docs and snail mail to them. Afterwards everything will fall into place ;)

Happy investing.

Is it wise to withdraw and park the money to a safer place like bank habang patuloy pang bumababa ang value? sa tingin ko kasi tuloy-tuloy pa ang pagbaba nito at maging worst pa ito next year... then if ever sa tingin natin na pataas na naman sya ng paunti-unti, saka na lang natin ibabalik yung pera?
in my personal opinion.my answer is no. malaki na rin ang binaba ng investments ko but im here for the long term. mga 5 to 10 years.  i have a story to tell you. you know the guy who owns walmart? there was a time na talagang bumagsak ang stocks niya. so story goes that a reporter asked him " how does it feel to lose 10Billion dollars?" walmart replied ' i never lost it, i never sold my shares' and true enough tumaas ulit yung stocks. ( sorry if i messed up the details but thats how the story goes as far as i can remember).
so ganun din ang situation ngayon. if i withdrew my shares i would have lost money. may kasabihan nga ako eh. "hindi naman parating umuulan, umaaraw din".  one more thing, hindi ko pa naman kailangan yung perang ininvest ko kasi extra savings ko yun eh. do you get my point? hope this story helps in your decision. God bless:D

You're absolutely right, sonlife.I had investment (balanced fund) noong year 2008 not knowing na may financial crisis sa US.Kasi noon i was looking to invest some of my money sa time deposit (5 year) pero di  na available sabi ng teller. So I decided to invest on MF (not knowing nga na may crisis sa US).Buti na lang at itinuloy ko hanggang ngayon .My investment has earned 46% as to this date.

Salamat

It's good to hear that you have set aside enough funds for emergencies. Mutual fund is an ideal vehicle for your retirement considering your investment horizon.

It would be better to communicate with them/us first. We may ask to have a scanned copy of all the documents you have thru e-mail before you will mail/hand it. It would be good to have it pre-approved first. Should you have additional concerns, you may send me a buzz.

As of the moment, our offices are in Makati, Binondo and Cebu only. The best thing you can do is to prepare all the documents in opening an account. Please refer to our website at http://fami.com.ph/. It would be better to have it scanned and send thru e-mail for us to check them.

There are factors to consider on which fund(s) is(are) best for you. Among them are your risk-return preference and the reason for investing in this vehicle.

A lot of mutual funds are performing well today. You may check others like Sunlife, PAMI or PEMI. Should you have additional concerns, you may send it through my e-mail below.

Yes, I am. This is one way to extend the advocacy to all our countrymen.

Anyway, this is so far the only way to check it. You have to have a FirstMetroSec online trading account. Through this, you can view your shares inventory, sell shares and display your monthly Mutual Funds SOA. You may check additional details here: https://www.firstmetrosec.com.ph/cms/faq.html#Q7.1.

Hope this helps.

thanks for the link. :) as far as i understand, I have to open an online trading account right, even if i'm not really going into the online trading business?
to add to that, if i don't have a Metrobank account, I still have to deposit 25K before I can open an online trading account?

Assuming I have a metrobank account, also a metrobankdirect account, then I have complied the requirements, are there charges/fees for opening and maintaining my online account? this is assuming I won't do any online trading. Just for the sole purpose of checking the status of my FAMI investment.

Thanks

same question here.

somehow i find it quite frustrating that the only thing i can do online is add investments to our fami accounts thru metrobankdirect. how i wish it would be like bpiexpressonline where SOA's/ transaction details can be readily viewed.

I heard that they will launch the online SOA of Fami by end of this year. Let's cross our finger.

is saving 6 months of emergency funds a rule before investing into mutual funds, stocks, or building a business?

6 months of our net salary? or just a percentage of our salary like 20%?

it's a case to case basis but is highly recommended. also, the # of months varies per person depending on your lifestyle, dependents and liabilities.

saving 6 months of your gross salary (minimum mas maganda kung more than 6 months) to serve as your emergency fund that can be safe keep in a time deposit.

mahirap na wala kang emergency fund pero you directly invest in stocks, MF, or UITF.  kapag may emergency (namatay or naospital or nakulong or biglang nawalan ng income), wala kang pagkukunan ng pera at kailangan mo tanggalin sa stocks, MF, or UITF yung ipon mo.  Paano kung ang value ng stocks, MF, or UITF ay mababa, hindi ba lugi ka pa?

Kaya kailangan at importante ang emergency fund.
