I prefer online brokers. Online brokers should provide more trainings to the retail investors especially those living outside manila area. They don't need to be physically present, webinars or videos is acceptable.

You could fax them the withdrawal form where you could indicate what bank and account # they can deposit your money when you want to cash it out. No need to go to their office. I recently asked it to there representative.

I am a newbie of and had been reading all about philippine stock market.I think it would be less expensive buying/selling stocks thorugh online coz youre not going to pay stock brokers.Anyone who could advise what site to go to If i am decided to buy and sell stocks.

Even if it is online, brokers still get there commission every time you buy or sell stocks.

Being only 17 you will have to have one of your parents (grandparent) open a "Custodian Accoount" for you,

In the United States, you must be 18 to open a with a Broker/dealer

All major brokerage firms provide their clients with on-line services, including trading platforms, latest market & financial news and research.

Customer need to select the site that is best for them. Traders have requirements in a site, while investors have other requirements.

Although most sites are geared to general securities and commodities, however customers may have special needs for the types of products they trade, and the markets in which they trade.

It seems that the most popular firms for on-line investing all of which provide excellent platforms and services are; Scottrade; Chas.Schwab; TDAmeritrade; Fidelity; E-Trade and Thinkorswim.

Advantages of a live broker:
Faster execution.
You can gain experienced advice, with some insider tips.
No downtimes, except broken mobile or telephone line hehe.
Fundamental/Technical Analysis, depending on the broker.

Advantages of an online broker:
Lower transaction fees. (though live brokers can provide the same fees as online brokers, provided your account is big, and trades regularly)
You can trade even if you're abroad.
