  • I am a member of AFPSLAI :D ..They do have very high dividend yields, ranging from 16% to as high as 22% per annum.  As member, you are actually a shareholder of the Association by placing Capital Contribution.  There was a time when the maximum CapCon you can place is 5M, however right now they've limitted it to 3M with quarterly placement of 30k max (not sure kung nabago na).

    High Yield and the best part is: your money is not locked-in!  You can withdraw money anytime just like a savings account, and will not at all affect your dividend.  Way better than time deposits, and will beat any high yielding rural banks in terms of risk.

    @Ace_balasador - Member ka rin ba ng PAPCFIC? An AMWSLAI? Mataas din ang dividend dyan sa mga yan, parang AFPSLAI din.

  • mga sirs/maams, dividend rates of AFPLAI are at 4% per quarter for the entire year of 2007. yung 22% per annum was several years ago pa, before the BSP ordered them (rightfully, kawawa naman mga sundalo na borrowers) to reduce dividend rates. eventually, bababa pa ito to 15% per annum, based on a memo they issued to members.

    maximum capital contribution limit for existing members is at Php3 M for regular members and Php1 M for associate members. maximum initial and subsequent deposits is currently at Php 30,000 per quarter (equivalent to 10 k per month).

    for associate members, it is a common misconception na pwedeng i-sponsor ng AFP members ang kahit sinong relatives nila. Associate Membership in AFPSLAI is strictly limited now (ewan ko before) to the following:

    1. spouse of regular members (kahit sundalo asawa mo, dapat maging regular member muna siya)
    2. legitimate children of regular members (21 years old and above)
    3. PVAO pensioner (even yung mga lolos associate members lang, so it means they cannot sponsor their apos)
    3. cadets of PMA/PAF/PNPA
    4. candidate officers of OCS and NOCC

    maam lailani, like what sir rangel said, if your father was a member of AFPSLAI when he was still alive, baka pwede ka pa maging member especially kung hawak mo pa ung CCA (green) passbook niya. your mother can be a "Regular" member dahil widow siya nang dad mo. is she receiving your dad's pension checks? if ever pag naging Regular member na ang mom mo, sa kanya ka magpa-sponsor.

    as for voting rights, this is next to useless since the AFP Chief of Staff is always (as in always) the Chairman of AFPSLAI. he nominates whoever he wants as his Board of Trustees but usually the CG of the PA and PAF and the FOIC, PN also sits in the Board. in a way, this is good for members since, if ever by force majeure or in any way malugi ang operations ng AFPSLAI, the AFP and DND leadership will plow AFP funds into the institution and make sure na hindi magsasara ito.

    current General Manager and EVP of AFPSLAI is RAdm. Alfredo Abueg (Ret), a cavalier and the class valedictorian of 74. he is a professional finance man with extensive trainings and schooling here and abroad. he is the one actually running the institution and not the President, that's why siya ang nilagay sa post na yan to make sure your funds are safe and profitable.

    AMWSLAI, which is not AFP-run, has always been plagued by management issues and intrigues. up to now, contested pa rin ang Chairmanship nila. they almost had a bank run in 2003 yata but up to now they are still alive and kicking! matibay din but i wouldn't place any significant amount, if ever, with them.

    PAFCPIC worth a try din, but this is not incorporated as a SLA but as a Cooperative with the CDA. PNSLAI worth a try din.

  •  :applause: Very well said and comprehensive Sir Dutch_boy...It happens na am a legitimate son of a retired enlisted man and the wifey was also a daughter of a retired enlisted man.. So in effect me and wifey both have individual accnt with AFPSLAI. Way back we have also an accnt with AMWSLAI pero sa mga narinig ko..we decided to take it out...totoo medyo nd gaano sya ka stable ng AFPSLAI, I still remember we had to wait for 3weeks before they manage to cash out our Capital contribution..so kinda scrary. Pero in fairness they are still running strong now, and fo everybodys info they were the first sort of loan and savings assoc. sa AFP..ahead cla ng ilang years sa AFPSLAI.

    Before nagkascandal about Gen. Garcia...regular member max. capital contribution is @5M and you could place up to 200K per month..since then nagkaroon ng reform and now the current rate was like sir Dutch_boy mentioned. Some also practice un nakikiride lang..say ung isang soldier na kaclose mo tapos un nakikiride on lang with his account, again that was before the Reformed laws for contribution...now eh 30k lang per quarter.

        Pwede yun punta ka lang sa Camp Aguinaldo branch nila tapos sabihin mo yung name ng dad and mom mo kung meron silang acct sasabihin sayo. Ang laki na nun kung sakaling meron sila tapos hinde na nagagalaw. Balato ha.hehehe... Yung acct ko kasi halos magdoble in 5 yrs.

    Sayang walang higher quarterly cap contributions and 15%.  I have also heard same: eventually 15%.  Has anyone heard if AFPSLAI rates or quarterly cap contributions will go higher?  

    I found a website for PAFCPIC, but could not find any for PNSLAI.
    Does anybody have information about PAFCPIC or PNSLAI's earning rates?
