Filipinos more interested in “sex” than “money”
October 24, 2006
More Filipinos look for “sex” than “money” — in Google search, that is.
Google Trends, a tool from Google Labs that charts how often a particular term is entered relative to the total number of searches, has shown that Filipino internet users search for the keyword “sex” more often than the keyword “money.”
Here is Google’s data for Philippine searches from 2004 until 2009. While the number of searches for the keyword “money” remained stable through the years, the number of searches for the term “sex” has continuously peaked and climaxed — no pun intended.
Google searches from the Philippines: sex vs. money

In 2009, there was a barrage of “sex” searches in Google.
You guessed it right. A lot of people from all walks of life in the Philippines were turning to Google for the infamous Hayden Kho sex videos. Leaked videos of Hayden Kho in compromising situations with various women such as Katrina Halili and Maricar Reyes were all over the net.
Rumors sparked more searches. Thousands want to watch and download the Ruffa Mae Quinto sex tape. Even that of Vicki Belo’s. Although its existence remained unconfirmed, the supposed sex videos of Bea Alonzo and of KC Concepcion were popular searches in Google.
Without a doubt, “sex” is hotter than “money” in the Philippine online arena. And we still wonder why the Philippines is poor and, at the same time, overpopulated.
