‘N Sync creator ordered to repay scam victims $300 million
July 17, 2008
It looks like the victims of scammer and boy band creator Lou Pearlman won’t have to sing Bye, Bye, Bye to their money.
This week, a US court ordered Lou Pearlman, creator of the popular boy bands ‘N Sync and Backstreet Boys, to repay as much as $300 million to the more than 1,000 people he swindled in his Ponzi scam and fraudulent investment programs.
Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync creator was a Ponzi scammer
May 24, 2008
Most of us know Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync but very few probably know that the man behind those boy bands is a convicted scammer.
Last week, Lou Pearlman, the creator of popular boy groups Backstreet Boys and ‘N Sync was sentenced to 25 years in prison for running a scam that swindled investors more than $300 million since the 1980s.

NOBS HYIP Blog closes but it’s not yet the end
October 14, 2007
Our good friend Jude Rodrigues informed us that he is closing down the No Bullshit (NOBS) HYIP Blog as he bids farewell to HYIP investing after several years of monitoring the industry. The NOBS HYIP Blog may be gone but it's not yet over for the NOBS Network.
Jude promises to launch a new site that will cater to genuine income opportunities such as real estate, mutual fund, commodities investments, private investments, managed accounts, and affiliate marketing, among others.
To receive updates regarding Jude's plans, head over to the NOBS HYIP site and sign up for their newsletter.
An HYIP by any other name is still an HYIP
September 7, 2007
One is not enough, two is not too much, and aplenty is just what's needed.
That seems to be the motto of owners of High Yield Investment Programs (HYIP) who are utilizing tens, probably even hundreds, of domain names to redirect to their HYIP site.
Pinoy Money Talk recently discovered several HYIPs that use a plethora of forwarding URLs. These HYIP administrators purchase bulk domain names (for a few dollars a piece) in the hopes of easily luring "investors" to their high-yield investment offers. They even advertise through Google Adwords using multiple slogans and URLs, although the ads redirect to only one site.
One of these is Investment Gold Profits (www.investmentgoldprofits.com) which we have found, as of this writing, to be using more than 40 forwarding domain names (Update: We've already identified 50 forwarding URLs).
What happened to HYIPRanks.com?
September 1, 2007
For some days now, HYIPRanks.com, one of the largest forum and monitoring sites of High Yield Investment Programs (HYIP) has been inaccessible and, as of this posting, merely parked under GoDaddy.com.
According to a discussion thread in TalkGold, the HYIPRanks website was severely hit by DDOS attacks and their e-gold account was also blocked. Until today, no official word has been heard from the owners of HYIPRanks.

What type of HYIP investor are you?
July 6, 2007
PinoyMoneyTalk.com started in 2005, initially with the aim of providing Filipinos with an objective guide to successful investing in High-Yield Investment Programs (HYIP). In our more than two years of experience in the HYIP industry, we have seen different types of investors come and go.
In this article, we present to you what we think are the three basic groupings of HYIP investors: the Cheerleader, the Naive Player and the Informed Gambler.
Which one are you?
Pinoys earning online: No more HYIP for jrb
March 28, 2007
Winning entry of jrb in the "How Pinoys earn money online contest":
* * * * * * * * * *
Been hounding the internet for money-making schemes since 2002. Lost thousands in HYIP (High Yield Investment Programs), actually hundreds of thousands. But a lot of hard lessons learned there. My advice for newbies: NEVER go there. Instead, spend your money studying internet/affiliate marketing rather than putting your money on ponzi schemes. They are never the "investments" that you perceive them to be.
I never gave up because I knew millions could be made compared to the thousands lost. Now I earn about $1K+ a week. From what? A combination of freelancing, outsourcing, adsense and affiliate income. There are a LOT of genuine opportunities out there. The problem is that it usually takes years to distinguish the diamonds from the ordinary rocks.
Confessions of an ex-HYIP investor (Part 1)
December 31, 2006
It all started with one spam email. It was the last week of December 2004. I was cleaning out my Yahoo! inbox but instead of deleting all mails in the Bulk Mail folder, I retained one whose title caught my attention. It proclaimed: "40% return after 5 days! No risk!"
I clicked the link in the mail despite the resistance of the voice in my head: "Fool! Don't trust these people! 40% return in 5 days is impossible. It's definitely a scam!"
I know, I told myself, but I'll just try searching for this in Google to see what turns up. Who knows, this might be the 'pot of gold' I've been looking for!
One keyword led to another and I jumped from one site to the next: MinistryofGold.com, MoneyMakerGroup.com, TalkGold.com, HYIPDiscussion.com.

StudioTraffic fading out?
While member payments continued to be delayed, StudioTraffic (ST) made another bad move by removing egold as a withdrawal payment option. The act immediately earned the ire of a lot of members. Irked by the "impatience" of these members to wait until full account auditing was supposedly complete, ST owner John Horan offered to close and settle the accounts of members who cannot wait anymore. Reminisce the events in this StudioTraffic thread.

FeederFund News
FeederFund (FF) announced that existing members must have at least $250 in their account balance, otherwise they will be required to pay a subscription fee. The official FF update goes:
Existing Members with a total balance greater than $250 will be exempt from the subscription fee, but this will not be an option for any new member in the future. There will be no rush for subscription payment. We are looking at the end of February as the most likely cut-off date but we will provide more information on payment methods and timings in mid January 2006.
Find out succeeding FF developments in the FeederFund board.

Jim Hunt is leaving 4Daily
4Daily.com admin Jim Hunt sent an email to 4Daily members explaining that he is leaving 4Daily for greener pastures. Some members, however, thought this was a mere ploy to exonerate Jim once 4Daily fully collapses. Some even claimed that a transfer to new owners did not actually happen. 4Daily eventually announced that "new owners" had taken over but that was not enough to revive the program. Reminisce this program in the 4Daily board in the Pinoy Money Talk forum.
