Google Adsense: Today’s Earnings different from Total Earnings

I logged in to my Adsense account a few minutes ago and — surprise! — my Today’s Earnings is different from my Total Earnings of the day.
The Today’s Earnings field shows I’ve already earned $1.47 today but my Total Earnings shows a different number: $0.48.
Which is which? And why the difference?
Anyone experienced the same?
