Scammed by Ervin Abellanosa?
August 29, 2008
You are not the only one. Several members of the PMT Forum unfortunately became victims too to the scamming prowess of a certain Ervin Abellanosa.
His modus operandi normally involve ecurrency exchanges. For example, an unwitting party sends money to Abellanosa’s bank account as payment for egold or Paypal funds. After the payment is sent, Abellanosa would reply that his Paypal account got limited and that the other party must wait until he solves the problem. Several days later, the buyer won’t hear from Abellanosa anymore.
What Seth Godin should have said about click fraud
August 28, 2008
Since we’re on the topic of invalid clicks and click fraud, I’d like to join the blogosphere’s discussion on book author and marketer Seth Godin’s statement about clicking on website ads.
It seems Mr. Godin made a major blunder by apparently promoting click fraud when he wrote in his blog:
If every time you read a blog post or bit of online content you enjoyed you clicked on an ad to say thanks, the economics of the web would change immediately. You don’t have to buy anything (though it’s fine if you do). You just have to honor the writer by giving them a click. (emphasis added)
He tried to defend his position in a follow-up post but no matter how you look at it, his first post ultimately encouraged site visitors to commit click fraud.

These are payments for PayPal’s Merchant Referral Bonus Program, wherein you can be entitled to receive a portion of Paypal transaction amounts of the people you referred to PayPal. Last week, we received another batch of Paypal referral bonuses. This time, the bonus totaled a whopping $182.00 as seen in the screenshot below. Read more

Download Internet Explorer 7.0 spyware threat
August 21, 2008
Last week I received an email supposedly from admin@microsoft.com instructing me to upgrade to Internet Explorer 7.0, the latest update to Microsoft’s browser.
If I didn’t know better, I would have automatically clicked on the download link. Instantly, then, I would have made myself a victim of a spyware threat.
Below is a copy of that malicious IE7 email.

Will the iPhone sell in the Philippines?
August 19, 2008
The launch of the Apple iPhone in the Philippines is just a few days away (on August 22, to be exact) but an analyst thinks the timing of the launch may just not be right.
According to an analyst of XMG Asia Pacific, the roll-out of the iPhone in the Philippines “came at a very bad time.”
