(Video) Gandalf and Frodo promote Yahoo! Mail
April 10, 2008
As the market for web-based email gets tougher and tougher, big players Google’s Gmail, MSN’s Hotmail and Yahoo! Mail are on a continuous battle to offer something extraordinary in order to retain customers and get new ones.
Yahoo!, for its part, has exclusively inked a deal with — brace yourselves — the wizard Gandalf and the hobbit Frodo of J. R. R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings to promote the web-based email service.
Here’s a very funny video of Gandalf using Yahoo! Mail and Messenger to send Frodo on a mission to save Middle Earth.
In the video, Gandalf logs on to Y! Messenger and checks on Frodo if he is online. Frodo replies using Gen Y speak: “Yo, what up G?”
Gandalf then instructs Frodo to cast the ring into the fires of Mt. Doom or “we’re all gonna die.”
“When?” Frodo asks.
Gandalf: “End of day would be greeeat…”
Frodo: “Are you *&^%$# CRAZY?”
Crazy, it indeed is. Watch the video and see whether Gandalf and Frodo can save Middle Earth by using Yahoo! Mail and Messenger.
