Ramiele Malubay booted out of American Idol
April 3, 2008
Bye-bye, Malubay.
Ramiele Malubay, the “small girl with the big voice,” became the latest casualty of American Idol Season 7, as the show trimmed the competition to eight hopefuls.
Twenty-year old Ramiele Malubay, of Miramar, Floida, sang Dolly Parton’s “Do I Ever Cross Your Mind” on Tuesday night’s show. Paula Abdul enjoyed the performance. Randy Jackson thought it was OK. But Simon Cowell — not so much.
“Overall I thought it was forgettable, and I think it was very reminiscent of something you would see and hear on a cruise ship,” Simon told Ramiele.
Watch a YouTube video of the elimination night (and Ramiele’s final performance) below.
The remaining Top 8 finalists are Michael Johns, David Archuleta, Carly Smithson, David Cook, Kristy Lee Cook, Syesha Mercado, Jason Castro, and Brooke White.
Say farewell to the could-have-been first Filipino-slash-Asian-American Idol.
Bye-bye, Malubay.

I think Fil-Am is not that really fortunate in singing contest like this… Lets focus on how to improve our talents… We dont have to prove something to them we have Lea Salonga, Apol and many others…
We truly are a country of talents…
