It is very sad that people do not learn at all. I guess the problem here is the lack of education regarding these scams. There should be strong information campaign against these fake investment schemes so that everybody knows what they are getting into.

By reading the other emotionally charged responses here. Looks like a lot of money was at stake and lost.

Also I have a tip for those bible quoters. If you want your sermons to be effective, keep it short and simple. I doubt anybody will read your novel-length posts.

Proverbs Day 115 (KJV):

Proverbs 15:2-4(KJV):
2 The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.
3 The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.
4 A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

Thoughts for the Day

These verses in Proverbs tell us that the Lord God is an "all seeing" and "all hearing" God, who hears the speech of the wise and the foolish. According to verse 2 those who are wise will speak the knowledge of the things that the Bible teaches, while out of the mouths of fools comes folly and foolishness. We need to be reminded that God truly is omnipresent (His presence is every where at the same time) just as verse 3 states. No man can hide any word or deed from God. Those today who get away with crimes because no man witnessed their deeds will ultimately have to answer for them, as they will one day stand before the living God as He will judge them. Others who were sentenced and wrongly judged in this life, will one day be vindicated by a righteous God who knew what really happened. The guilty parties will have to face a Holy God who will judge them.

We can understand why the unsaved do evil things with no restraint, as they do not know God. However, many Christians act as if God has gone on vacation and is not watching the deeds they are committing. If we really believed that God was watching and hearing our conversations, would we speak to our mates, family and friends the way we do?

One of the things that begins to erode a marriage away is when one spouse begins to speak critically to and of the other one. The things we say to and about the other one can either be uplifting and encouraging, or they can bring disharmony and hurt. Little critical words will lead to a dissatisfaction with one's mate and can escalate to bring about a divorce. No person should threaten to divorce the other just to get their way, or manipulate the other to do something they really don't want to do. When any one threatens divorce, this is like speaking words of murder to your marriage. The Bible tells us to speak good words if we want to see good days and have a love for life.

Words can accumulate in the spirit and cause one to react lovingly or hateful by what is spoken. The Bible warns each spouse not to return "railing for railing" but "blessing for a railing." As kind words are returned this stops the cycle of "railing for railing."

1 Peter 3:7-12:
7 Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.
8 Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous:
9 Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing.
10 For he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile:
11 Let him eschew evil, and do good; let him seek peace, and ensue it.
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

Proverbs 15:1 says, "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."

We are admonished in the Bible to seek to do good and to seek peace, not to stir up trouble because we want to air our anger and wrath. As Christians we are to give our anger to Jesus and ask Him to remove it, and replace it with His love, patience and forgiveness. We are not to take it out on someone else, especially our mates.

The Lord calls us to love our mates, as we would love a sister or brother in the Lord and to be courteous. Many times, after people get married, they cease to be courteous to one another and they are rude and unmannerly. These things start with little things they quit doing to please the other and soon they grow into gross neglect. We should be kind to one another and think about saying nice things that edify and build our marriages instead of the hurtful words that tear them down. Critical speech in little things can be the root cause that later destroys a marriage.

Verse 4 in the Amplified version of the Bible says this: "A gentle tongue (with its healing power) is a tree of life, but willful contrariness in it breaks down the spirit." Let us ask the Father to help us guard our tongues and only speak good and wholesome things instead of the perverseness we hear so much in the world. Let us be as a tree of life that produces delicious fruit, instead of tearing down others.

Prayer for the Day

Dear Heavenly Father,I am thankful that You are an "all seeing" and "all hearing" God, as this brings me great comfort to know You are watching over me at all times, and that You hear every word and prayer that I pray. You are a wonderful Father who not only loves me, but You love the whole world. I thank You that You are concerned about all the little things that concern me, as well as the things that I perceive as big things. Lord, to You, my concerns are never too small to miss Your attention, nor are they too big that You can not take care of them because You are sizeless!!

YOU ARE GOD!! Lord, may this truth be planted strongly in my spirit and in those that I pray for. Lord, meet the needs of the thousands of people who write us for prayer. Touch them and meet their needs according to Your will. Let each of them know how much You love and care for them. I know You will come and save them! I ask this in Your precious son's name. Amen.

Special Message for This Day:

In my devotional time tonight, I just feel the Lord's presence in such a special way. I feel the love of God especially for those who are hurting in relationships. If you are struggling in this area, and need healing in your marriage or need a relationship healed, just reach out to the Lord right now and ask Him to touch you and that person. I really believe that you will receive His anointed touch to bring healing to you both. May you feel His love this moment bringing healing to your emotions, and a love for one another that you have never experienced before. This is my prayer for you. God bless you. Thank you, Lord.

Proverbs Day 108 (KJV):

Proverbs 14:22-25(KJV):
22 Do they not err that devise evil? but mercy and truth shall be to them that devise good.
23 In all labour there is profit: but the talk of the lips tendeth only to penury.
24 The crown of the wise is their riches: but the foolishness of fools is folly.
25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies.

Thoughts for the Day

The entire book of Proverbs is a comparison between good and evil, showing how those who do good are blessed and those who do evil are cursed. The curse will come through the wickedness that they bring on themselves. Verse 22 states that those who devise evil are walking in error, while those who devise good will receive mercy and truth. The Lord gives His loving-kindness to those who are good to others. Jesus, Himself, is spoken of as One who "went about doing good" in the New Testament.

Acts 10:38: "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him."

Since all good deeds are rewarded, either in this life, or the next, we can rejoice in knowing our good works are not in vain. All men will reap what they have sown. The next verse in this study specifically points this out in the area of work. We are told that all of our labor brings profit. Another way to say this is that those who work hard, will profit by it. However, those who just spend their time in idle talk, will end up in poverty (penury). I have known many people who talk about doing things, but never accomplish their desires because they do not spend the time working to see those things come to pass. They are just talkers, not doers.

One particular subject, I have heard many Christians talk about is increasing their prayer life. However, they just never seem to find the time to actually do it. We can all find excuses for failing in this area. I have been guilty myself. I remember a time when I was going through a lot of hard trials, and daily was facing new problems. I heard the Lord speak something to me that I have never forgotten. He spoke to my spirit and said, "Betty, if you prayed about your problems, as much as you talk about your problems, you would not even have the problems." We have to diligently work at maintaining a healthy prayer life, as it does not come easy. We must set a time and schedule it into our day.

Verse 24 speaks of the wise as wearing a crown of riches. This means that the wise man's wealth, is his wisdom. We are rich indeed, when we have the wisdom of God. With His wisdom, nothing is impossible to us, while self confident fools end up in their own folly, which brings them down. Wisdom is having the ability to discern correctly and then following the soundest course of action. This is such a valuable gift. It truly is a "crown of riches," as the outcome of all of wise decisions will lead to the abundant life. Jesus, Himself, is Wisdom; therefore if we follow and obey Him, we shall have that abundant life that He promises.

John 10:10: "The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly."

Verse 25 compares the words of a true witness and a deceitful witness. A person who speaks the truth actually saves lives. This happens in court cases, where someone testifies of a truth, and thus, the accused are not charged with a crime because of a truthful witness. A faithful witness is also someone who shares the truth of the Word of God with others. Because God's Word is full of life, it will save people from making choices that could kill them. A deceitful witness does just the opposite -- because his words are lies, he will endanger innocent lives. Many people have been destroyed because they believed a lie. We should not believe everything we hear, but we should seek our answers from God and His Word. His Word should be our standard. Jesus said He was the truth, therefore we can trust Him to let us know what is truth and what is a lie.

John 14:6: "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."

Prayer for the Day

Dear Heavenly Father, I am thankful for your mercy and truth each day. Thank you for forgiving me and being patient with me when I fail You. I ask for the desire to be more diligent in my prayer life. I need help in my own life and I also need the burden to pray for others who need Your help. I lift up my brothers and sisters in the Lord and ask that You minister to each of them in the area of their lives where they have the greatest need. Encourage those who are weary, give faith to those who are losing hope, grant strength to the weak and health to the sick. Bless all of Your children and keep us all from evil. I ask this in the name of Jesus. Amen.

Amen.

Proverbs Day 104 (KJV):

Proverbs 14:13-14(KJV):
13 Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful; and the end of that mirth is heaviness.
14 The backslider in heart shall be filled with his own ways: and a good man shall be satisfied from himself.

Thoughts for the Day

The book of Proverbs makes many observations, and these scriptures speak of a laughter that contains sorrow. Verse 13 speaks of a heart that is sorrowful, even though that person may be laughing. Since laughter is an emotion, it proceeds from the soul of man. When a man's soul has not been redeemed, he may laugh temporarily at certain things that are funny to him, while deep in his heart he is most miserable. Until we are "born again" we cannot know real happiness and joy because these things only come from a relationship with Jesus Christ. The world has always been amazed at how true Christians could maintain a spirit of joy even in great trials and suffering. This is possible because the Lord gives His joy to His saints and it is not dependant on circumstances, but rather upon abiding in Christ. The power of the Holy Spirit can sustain us in our deepest trials.

Verse 14 states that those who are backsliders (those who slide back from God) have no reserves to lean on as they are not filled with the Holy Spirit, but rather are filled with their own ways. They have no inner strength to bring them through their trials. Consequently, many of God's own people are destroyed for lack of faith, when under attack of the devil. This is why it is so important to use our time wisely. When things are going good in life we need to use that time to study God's Word and store up the truths of God in our hearts. We can be ashamed in our Christian walk if we do not know God's Word.

2 Timothy 2:15: "Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

Many Christians are perplexed as to why one Christian is walking in the favor and victory of God, while others are suffering and cannot seem to obtain the victory. The devil tries to tell men that God loves the apparent favored one more, while He has failed the one who is deep tribulation. This is a lie of the devil. God loves all of His children equally. He is not a respecter of persons. However, God is a respecter of one thing, and that one thing is -- He honors His Word. Therefore, God honors and respects all of those who practice the Word of God. This means that the only advantage one Christian has over another is their knowledge of the Word of God, and their obedience to it. That is why we are told to study the Word of God, as a lack of knowledge can lead to our downfall. In the following verse, God declares that His people are destroyed because they lack knowledge.

Hosea 4:6a: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."

We can understand how a lack of knowledge can be detrimental in the things in this life, but when it comes to the things of God, many seem to think that it does not matter. Ignorance is a cause of much suffering in this world, in the natural, as well as the spirit. I can think of a perfect example of this truth. A number of years ago when Bud and I made a missionary journey to India, we visited a small church that had much sickness and dysentery in every family. When we ask the mothers who had children with fever to bring them forward for prayer, almost the whole church came forward. We stretched our hands out over the crowd and prayed and rebuked the fever in the name of Jesus and instantly the children who were hot with fever were restored to their normal temperature. The Holy Spirit healed them all. We were rejoicing in the goodness of God to these people, as we had remembered how Jesus in the New Testament had prayed and rebuked devils and people were healed.

Matthew 8:14-17:
14 And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.
15 And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.
16 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:
17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.

The next day we were in the home of the pastor and one of his children had a fever again, after being healed the night before. When we began to pray about this, the Holy Spirit began to speak that we needed to deal with the root of the sickness. We were not aware that the water in that neighborhood was contaminated and that the fevers and dysentery was caused by impure drinking water. After quizzing the pastor and asking several questions, we found out that the water pipes to the houses and the sewer pipes were laid side by side and because the pipes were old and leaking and the joints were not sealed properly, the sewage water was contaminating the water in the water pipes. We told the pastor to begin at once to boil all their drinking water, and to tell the church families to do likewise. Through this word of knowledge the families were spared illness caused by water-borne bacteria.

Lack of knowledge is causing disease in the whole church. Lack of spiritual knowledge can also cause spiritual sickness in one's life. We must study and obey the Word of God so that we can overcome the problems in this life and walk victoriously in the Lord.

Prayer for the Day

Dear Heavenly Father, I thank You for the joy that You have given me. I do not want to take the fruit of the Holy Spirit for granted. I am blessed to experience Your love, joy and peace, especially in the middle of my trials. Truly You give us peace that passes all understanding. Father, give me a continued love for Your Word and a desire to study it faithfully. I also need the grace to apply it in my daily life. Help all of Your people to esteem Your Word and honor You by keeping it. May we all declare as David did in Psalm 119:11, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee." I ask in the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ. Amen.
