Phishing email, fake website: e-buiilon.com
February 7, 2008
In the tradition of fake Paypal, eGold, E*Trade, Gmail, and YouTube emails designed to steal your personal information, here comes another phishing email that attempts to deceive you into logging to a fake website so it can hack your e-Bullion funds.
The well-designed email comes complete with the logo of online currency e-Bullion.com and a header image that ironically announces, “Eliminate Risks & Fraud.”

The note reads:
Dear e-Bullion Customer,
We are contacting you to remind that your account has been inaccessed for a while. In accordance to e-Bullion User Agreement, inactive accounts will be deactivated. To prevent it, you need to confirm access of your account and to ensure that your account has not been compromised or deactivated before.
To securely confirm your e-Bullion details, please login at:
https://secure.e-bullion.com/log-in.php
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, and appreciate your assistance in helping us maintain the integrity of the entire e-Bullion® system. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Please do not respond to this auto-generated e-mail. Should you need personalized service please write to us at
CustomerAssistance@e-bullion.com
Everything seems to be legit, that is, until you confirm where the login site is:
https://secure.e-bullion.com/log-in.php –> http://e-buiilon.com/
Whoa, is that two i’s?
e-buiilion.com vs. e-bullion.com! The official e-Bullion website is the latter (e-bullion.com) but the fake site (e-buiilion.com) is deceptively similar!

Surely a lot would fall for this phishing attempt. But you should know better! Login to the fake website and you give access to the scammer to hack your account. So stay safe by not clicking on any links on all suspicious emails you receive.
You might want to install too the Firefox browser or Roboform tool (software that saves your online passwords so you don’t have to type it anymore) to help protect your PC against phishers.
