Blog Guide 2: Parts and elements of a blog
In Blog Guide 1: What is a blog? you learned what a blog is, the different types of blogs, terminologies related to blogging, and specific niches and examples of blogs. In the second part of this Learn How to Blog Series, you will learn the basic elements comprising a blog.
A blog normally has four major sections: the Header, Blog Post, Sidebar, and Footer.
The Header is, obviously, the section at the top while the Footer is the one at the bottom. The Blog Post contains the blog title and the blog entry itself. The Sidebar is a collection of links located either on the left- or right-hand side of the blog. In certain variations, a blog can both have a Left and Right Sidebar. Sometimes the Sidebar is omitted and links usually found there are moved to the Footer.

1. Header - the top part containing the blog name and logo normally accompanied by a short description
2. Sidebar - the left or right (or sometimes both left and right) section of the blog that usually contains the Search Box, Blog Archive, Categories, Blogroll, and other links
3. Footer - the bottom part normally containing the copyright information of the blog

4. Post Title / Permalink - the title of the blog entry normally acts as a permalink or permanent link, that is, the specific URL assigned to each post
5. Blog Post - the main content of the blog
6. Search Box - allows users to search from published blog articles
7. Page Navigation - contains links to the stand-alone “pages” of the blog, e.g., About Page, Links Page, Contact Us Page, etc.
8. Archive - allows access to blog posts published in the past
9. Categories - a way to categorize blog content by their general topic
10. Blog Roll - a listing of links to other blogs or websites
11. Commenter and Comment - the feedback or reaction of another user to the blog article
12. Post Comment Field - the form where the user’s comment is written prior to submission; the Commenter’s Name and Email Address is usually required before a comment can be accepted
