Dinna Revilla arrested?
January 31, 2008
The latest news in the Philippine real estate investing industry is that Dinna Revilla, a renowned guru of foreclosed property investing in the country, was arrested yesterday due to accusations of estafa.

Revilla, author of the foreclosed property investing book Riches in Foreclosures and mentor to Think Rich! Pinoy author Larry Gamboa, allegedly misappropriated the invested money of beauty queen and TV host Miriam Quiambao and four other people.
The Philippine Star and the Manila Standard have the scoop on the issue.

Now that PayPal is offering more and more features to users in the Philippines — the latest of which is the withdraw to bank account feature — a lot of people are wondering what will be offered next.
FAQ: How to withdraw PayPal to bank account
January 28, 2008
Here are some more information regarding the new withdraw to bank account feature of PayPal that it started offering late last week.
Is there a requirement before I can withdraw funds to my bank account?
Yes, you need to add a bank account and you need to be a verified PayPal member.
How do I add a bank account?
Follow the instructions below.
- Login to your PayPal account and go to Profile > Add or Edit Bank Account.
- Add your bank details. The Bank Code is a unique 9-digit number, however, no official information yet about this is available. We do have a partial list of PayPal Bank Codes in the Philippines but, again, this is only partial and unofficial.
- Review your bank information and click Add Bank Account to confirm.
Make sure that the first and last name on your PayPal account matches the name on your bank account. If it does not, your withdrawal request may be rejected by the bank.
Complete list of Paypal Bank Codes in the Philippines
January 27, 2008
PayPal has finally released the “official” list of Bank Codes for PayPal Philippines. Check our list below.
Apparently, the initial “bank code” information we got from Metrobank and BPI were wrong. A note to our Paypal friends: before you launched this new direct withdraw feature, you should have at least coordinated with local banks and issued the bank codes simultaneously with the launch. Until now, most bank people have no idea whenever we ask them about the PayPal Philippines Bank Codes.
Anyway, I personally hope this officially begins the fruitful relationship of Filipino online earners with PayPal. Finally, users in the Philippines will have no problem attaching their bank accounts and can now request to directly withdraw their PayPal funds!

If you are withdrawing PayPal to your bank account in the Philippines, you’re probably wondering what the “Bank Code” is.
If this is your first attempt to withdraw PayPal, you need to add a bank account to your PayPal account first. To do this, log in to PayPal, go to My Account > Profile > Add or Edit Bank Account then fill in the Bank Name, Account Number, and Bank Code.
What is the Bank Code? See below.

January 26, 2008
Pinoy Money Talk is one of the first, probably the very first, to break this news to the blogosphere but expect other sites and blogs to write about this without giving us credit although they got the news from us. LOL.
Anyway, brace yourself:
Effective yesterday, PayPal started allowing users in the Philippines to withdraw funds to local bank accounts.
Yup, it’s confirmed. Log in to your PayPal account and see that in the My Account > Withdraw page, you now have an option to directly transfer funds from your PayPal account to your bank account in the Philippines.
(Video) New Apple ad: “Leopard is better and faster than Vista”
January 26, 2008
Extending the popular “I’m a Mac… and I’m a PC” ad campaign of Apple, here’s another one promoting this time the supposed superiority of Leopard OS versus Microsoft Vista.
The ad clip, occupying large spaces at the top and right-hand side of websites, features the PC guy (played by John Hodgman) hilariously refuting a Wall Street Journal article that proclaimed that “Leopard is better than Vista.”
The online advertisement was earlier seen on the sites of The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal but today, it’s now being bannered on Yahoo! News.

HP laptops, HP Service Center? They suck!
January 25, 2008

Rant mode alert!
Over a year ago, I bought an HP Compaq nc2400 laptop in South Korea. The laptop performed superbly during the first few months (no surprise), but starting on the 8th month, its battery life dropped considerably to half and processing became slower (for example, opening an MS Office file took 1 minute). These did not bother me much then because I thought these were the trade-offs for having a small, lightweight notebook.
Left-click malfunction
But in November 2007, the left-click function of the TouchPad started acting weird. Clicking the TouchPad’s left-click button also opened the right-click functions and this could not be rectified by simply adjusting the TouchPad settings.
Pics of Google’s Switzerland office

A lot of people have long glorified the idea of working for Google, the search engine giant, supposedly because of the laid-back environment, the free-flowing food, the beanbag chairs, and a lot more yadah-yadah.
Here’s another one that they add to the list: an office space so cool it looks more than the set of a beach party movie than an actual workplace.
Presenting: pics from the Google Zurich office in Switzerland.

US Federal Reserve cuts interest rate by 0.75 points
January 22, 2008
In a surprise move, the US Federal Reserve cut today the federal funds rate by three-quarters of a percentage point, in an attempt to fan the increased fears of a recession in the US economy.
The federal funds rate, the interest that banks charge each other on overnight loans, was slashed from 4.25% to to 3.5% on January 22, Tuesday, and was the biggest one-day move by the central bank in recent memory.
The decision was taken during an emergency telephone conference with Fed officials on Monday night. The move caught the financial markets by surprise because the Fed is slated to deliberate on the rate cut not this week but next week.
In a brief statement, the Fed said it decided to cut the federal funds rate “in view of a weakening of the economic outlook and increasing downside risks to growth.”
The move was made before markets had opened in the United States, hoping that the interest rate cut would limit the expected decline in U.S. stocks.
At the opening bell, the Dow Jones lost 300 points and fell even further by 465 points, but managed to rebound to close at 11,971.19, 1% higher from last week’s trading.
Will the Philippine stock market reverse its current trend of decline to follow the American stock market’s performance? We find out in a few hours.
