Receive PayPal in the Philippines with PMT’s Pinoy PayPal Service

October 23, 2006

UPDATE (9/28/2007): PayPal Philippines accounts are now eligible to accept payments. You may want to read the article: PayPal Philippines can now receive payments

===============

For a limited time, PMT's Pinoy PayPal Service is again offering the Receiving PayPal Service. This is to help Filipinos or anyone in the Philippines receive funds even if they don't have a PayPal account or possess only a limited PayPal Philippines account.

To avail of the service, fill up the Receiving PayPal Transaction Request Form.

To protect PMT's PayPal account from fraudulent transactions, not all requests will be accommodated. To increase the chances of having your request processed, submit a scanned copy of a valid ID (with your name and address) to futuregizmo (at) gmail (dot) com upon submission of the Transaction Request Form. Do note that your request can still be processed even if you did not submit an ID copy as long as the payor is a Verified PayPal member or has been proven to be a reliable payor.

If your request is approved, details on how to receive funds will be sent to your email. Funds received are then converted to peso using the closing exchange rate in http://business.inq7.net/forex/. The peso funds are sent to your local bank account via the online fund transfer facility in PMT's UnionBank account. Note that it may take up to 3 banking days (depending on the receiving bank) before sent funds are credited and upon receipt, your bank may charge an additional fee. If you have a UnionBank account, however, transfers can be done real-time on the same day.

PMT charges 4% (minimum of $4) per Receiving PayPal transaction.

If you have questions or clarifications, visit the Pinoy PayPal Service Questions and Comments thread. To read feedback about the service, drop by the Completed Transactions Feedback thread.

Submit a Receiving PayPal request using the Transaction Request Form.

Google Adsense Tips to Optimize your Ads

October 22, 2006

Here's a recap of the five optimization tips from the Google Adsense blog during the August Optimization Month.

Adsense Tip 1: Test and track your ads using channels

Summary: Utilize channels to find out which location, type, and color of the ad generate the most clicks so you'd know which high-paying ads to use.

Adsense Tip 2: Design the “perfect” ad

Summary: The "perfect" ad is one that generates a lot of clicks based entirely on its color, type, and location in the site. You don't get to decide which ad is perfect, it's your site visitors' call. Thus you need to analyze how they "behave" in your site in order to know what ad "clicks."

Adsense Tip 3: Increase earnings with other Adsense features

Summary: Adsense is not just about ads. Referring others to use Google products, monetizing searches, and offering the site to targeted advertisers will definitely help increase your earnings.

Adsense Tip 4: Know your audience and find out who’s clicking on your ads (and who’s not) — and why

Summary: With Google Sitemaps and Google Analytics (and other site analysis tools), it's become easier to determine who your site audience is. Armed with this knowledge, you can find ways to tweak your site to generate more ad clicks and, consequently, Adsense earnings.

Adsense Tip 5: Monitor performance, evaluate results, and know what to do next

Summary: Monitor the performance of your account, evaluate the results of your ad campaigns, and plan your next steps based on the assessment results.

Optimization Tip 5: Monitor performance, evaluate results, and know what to do next

October 21, 2006

Google's final optimization tip: Monitor the performance of your account, evaluate the results of your ad campaigns, and plan your next steps based on the assessment results.

Of course, you start tracking the performance of your ad units using Channels in your Adsense account. You use channels to compare performance of ads of varying types (should I use banner or leaderboard ad?), in various locations (should I place the ad at the top or bottom of the site?), and in different site pages (should I change the format of ads to be used in the Contact Us and  About Us page?).

But you should not be restricted to the features within your Adsense account. Utilize Google Analytics and be able to see who's coming to your site, where they are coming from, how long they are staying, and in which pages they are visiting. Google Analytics helps you implement changes to your site by providing detailed statistics and analysis of visitors to your site.

PayPal Philippines FAQ

October 18, 2006

Here are frequently asked questions related to PayPal Philippines and PayPal accounts in general.

Can I receive and send funds with my PayPal Philippines account?
Your PayPal Philippines account is a limited, send-only PayPal account. You absolutely have NO ABILITY at the moment to receive any funds and you can send funds only after you have attached a valid credit card to your PayPal account. You can’t also fund your account. When making an online purchase using PayPal, PayPal will automatically charge your credit card with the transaction amount.

More explanation and discussion of these limited functions can be found in the Finally, PayPal Philippines is here! thread in the PMT Forum and the When purchasing online, which is better: send-only PayPal Philippines account or credit card? article.

Why does my PayPal account have only send capabilities?
PayPal’s explanation: Due to the complexities of global finance, members in certain countries and regions need to meet criteria to fully utilize our system, but this is not a reflection on the customer. PayPal is constantly working to expand and improve services for our customers. We hope to expand our features for these countries and regions, but we cannot give a timetable for this expansion.

To expedite the offering of full PayPal services, the Philippines has a critical job of convincing PayPal that appropriate banking regulations and legislation related to money laundering, online fraud, and identity theft are in place and strictly implemented. Everyone is therefore compelled to act. PayPal Philippines customers, banks, legislators, and regulatory agencies, among others, must do their share to show PayPal that the country adheres to the accepted rules of global finance.
